Reports
In plain words
A report is a summary of a playback: which steps worked, which failed and why. You can open it as a web page, as a spreadsheet, or in a format other tools understand.
Write replay results to a file by adding an option to the replay command.
| Option | Format | Use it for |
|---|---|---|
--junit report.xml | JUnit XML | CI systems and test-management tools |
--html report.html | HTML page | People; failed steps include a screenshot |
--csv report.csv | CSV | Spreadsheets |
bash
node bin/replay.js recording.json --junit report.xml --html report.html --csv report.csvYou can combine them in one run.
What each report contains
- All formats: one entry per step with its description, result, duration and error. Steps that were not run because an earlier step failed show as skipped in JUnit.
- HTML and JUnit: the overall result and total duration, plus warnings if the replay machine differs from the recording (window size, language, timezone).
- CSV: the step number, action, description, result, duration, error and whether a backup selector was used.
- HTML only: a screenshot of the failing step.
Page speed
Every replay also measures how fast each page loaded, rates it Good, Needs improvement or Poor, and explains what slowed it down, worst page first. It appears in the terminal, as a Page speed table in the HTML report, as JUnit notes, in --json and in Jira bugs. See Page speed, including --repeat for steadier numbers and --fail-on-slow to fail a build.
Security findings
Every replay also checks the pages it visited for common security weaknesses (missing security headers, risky cookies, plain HTTP and more) and lists them with a severity, the impact and how to fix each one. They appear in the HTML report, the terminal, the JSON output, the JUnit notes and Jira bugs. The same list includes vulnerable JavaScript libraries and data exposure (secrets, card numbers, tokens in addresses or storage, early trackers). See Security checks, including --fail-on to fail a build, a policy file, a baseline and SARIF export.
